Time after time He has provided. I’ve been told “God will provide” many times since I started to walk with the Lord I never fully understood the capacity of what that meant. In this season of life, I’ve come to recognize and reflect on all the things, places and times God has provided for me. Not only financially but spiritually. In times He called me to things I never felt capable of but in my obedience he gave me his Spirit, strength and confidence I needed to lead where he’s called me to lead and to be bold as I share the Good news. He has provided financially to pay bills and groceries when my food stamps stopped. He provided Christ like love I never knew I needed in places and from people that were once strangers to me. I learned the importance of community through their love of Jesus and how to ask for help in times of need. He has provided a roof over my head when he called me out of the home I was in. I always thought of his provision in terms of financial needs being met. He not only provides finances but love, community, patience, strength, endurance, comfort, peace the list goes on. I think of David in the book of 1 Samuel and the amount of times God provided him with things he needed a the extact time he needed them. When he was a shepherd he provided protection and strength from lions and bears. Or all the times he was on the run from Saul God provided safety, food and community for David. Even in Genesis 22:8 Abraham answered,”God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son.” Isaac asked his father where the lamb for the offering was and God provided that. Not just for them but for us as well through Jesus. He is the same God that provided for them and now provides for us. He provides in so many ways when we trust in him and allow him to move in our lives. When our hearts align with his. God not only provides for all are needs because we need them but also to be a testimony of his Goodness and Faithfulness.
God’s provision can look like a car you needed for your growing family or a bonus check from work that brought someone conviction to spend wisely. It can be as small as a hug you didn’t know you needed, to encourage you and remind you your not alone. Or even a car you can borrow from someone that’s out of town for the week. God provides in many different ways for each of us so don’t forget to look for and reflect on all God has done in your life and praise him for it. Humble yourself pray for your needs and wait to be amazed at the way God provides.
“Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable than they are?.”
- Matthew 6:26 (NLT)
“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”
- Matthew 6:33 (NIV)
